A kid with sunny inner

I hear it, I forget. I see it, I remember. I do it, I understand it. -- Maria Montessori

To be a child with a sunny heart, love and trust is a powerfully solid foundation.

During Open Day I watched my child sit closely with teacher Sonia during Circle Time, happily taking his teacher's hand. When singing the Hello song, the teacher asked each child: “Are you happy?” The kids all jumped up like happy birds and called out: “Yes I’m happy!”

When my son told me teacher Suzy loves him the most and that he loves his class and the other teachers, I was so moved. I know that he is so free and joyful because he is loved and in an environment that he trusts.

To be a child with a sunny heart, caring for others and keeping your friend in your heart is so important.

In class I saw the children sharing their clay with their classmates. I saw a child clean up some water spilt on the table to help another child not get wet. My son tells me he loves his friends, especially Isabella, Leo and Ricky. I am so moved to know that he has loving friends who make him happy and for whom he cares.

To be a child with a sunny heart, it’s important to grow up with freedom and fair rules.

I admire that those parents bring their child up in a more leisure way and give them so much freedom, while I often cannot make same way like them. Maria Montessori said that true freedom for children is to have freedom within an environment structured by clear and consistently enforced rules.

In Sonia’s class, I saw children cleaning up their own tables and making everything tidy. I saw children nicely laying out everything they needed to paint. I saw children sit attentively and listen quietly to the teacher’s story. Teacher Sonia even gave me guidance about how to prepare mathematical teaching aids that are age-appropriate for my son. I know that the right Montessori education will help my son along his growth path.

To be a child with a sunny heart, it’s important to study with joy.

Ethan began to talk at a late age, with an English spoken vocabulary limited to “mom” and “dad” at the age of two years and two months. We were definitely nervous about his language skills but his English is great after studying at Sunshine Home.

About a month and a half after he started in class, Ethan was at the playground when a child’s orange balloon fell from the sky. Ethan observed carefully: “Mom, orange balloon fall down and roll over.” I was so excited to hear such landmark English output.

I'm also thankful for our course consultant, QiuQiu. She constantly communicates with our family and she helped all of us to overcome our separation anxiety thanks to her patience, professionalism and loving heart.

Love and trust, freedom coupled with fair rules, joyful studies and great communication -- these are the things I wish for all of our children as they grow and share their love together.

Ethan’s mom, Emily
