My name is Cherry, and I’m a cheerful girl who loves to laugh. I feel so lucky I am able to work at Sunshine Home. I believe it is fate.  

I joined the Sunshine Home family this February. I was intrigued with the name. At first I thought it was some kind of joke, but later realized that like the sun, this school is a warm place. My co-workers were so friendly and really helped me feel relaxed and comfortable at my new job. I honestly wish that I came here earlier. 

One afternoon I noticed Ray drawing a robot very seriously. I sat down next to him and the other children, and we all drew together. After a while, Ray leaned on me and asked, “What you are painting, Teacher Cherry?” This surprised me because Ray had only ever called me “Teacher” before. When I heard him call me “Teacher Cherry,” it made me feel very happy. I decided to be mysterious and asked the children if they could guess what I was drawing. They all tried to guess, but only Ray guessed correctly. He was so excited that he asked to keep my drawing. I agreed on the condition that he behaved well the next day, and he did. Ray shared his toys with his peers and listened to the teachers. This gave me a feeling of accomplishment, and I felt happy about my job.

The children here are kind and tolerant. I love being their teacher, but I am learning from them as well. Working with these children is teaching me patience and tolerance. I am so happy I have the opportunity to work at Sunshine Home, and I am excited about the future growth with my students.
