Being Thankful

At this time of year, the children of Sunshine Home learn about the joys of giving and receiving gifts and the importance of family. What goes hand in hand with this are the ideas of being grateful and thankful for gifts given and kindness shared.

It doesn’t cost anything to be polite and learning to say ‘please’ and ‘thankful’ takes place everyday. From someone sharing their toys and helping another student with work, to a member of staff cleaning up, children learn the value of showing their appreciation of others throughout the school day. Spring Festival is a special time of giving but politeness need not be limited to this time of year. Children learn that being thankful is important all the time and it is a core value here at Sunshine Home.

I see kindness taking place in the classroom and beyond everyday and our children are polite to staff and to others. As a result of this, Sunshine Home is a wonderful place to work and to spend time with happy and friendly children and staff.
