Proper Compliment

Play a compliment game with your child every week.

Ask your child to choose someone they would like to praise most this week--cousins, grandparents, parents or classmates. And you also choose someone you want to praise.

Next, you and your child write down the reasons why you want to praise the person on a piece of paper. Then start a debate and compete to see who is more entitled to be “The Star of Praise” that week.

Through this game, we can learn a lot about our child from how they respond, including what they care most about, their values, their emotional state, and even the experiences they have encountered.

In addition, by guiding the child in the debate, we can help them learn to appreciate others’ strengths and use kind words, establishing a foundation for them to learn to get along with others in the future.
