There is Love in Letting Go

All parents want the best for their children, so they do everything for them. They feed them, dress them, and make all kinds of choices for them. But sometimes parents forget to provide their child with opportunities for self-expression.

Just from a look or a gesture a parent can already know and satisfy their child’s need before they have any chance to speak. Yes, this is a way to show our love, but it’s not always the best way.

Instead of helping a child when he doesn’t truly need help, we should teach him to do all he can by himself. Instead of speaking for him, we should teach him how to express himself. We love our children, so instead of educating a child like a fragile flower in a greenhouse, we should cultivate him into a towering tree that can withstand wind and rain. There is also love in letting go, a deeper love.
