Doing household

Doing household activities jointly is a fantastic way to give your child a sense of respect and to let him or her know they are a valued part of the family.

Invite child to  prepare food or to make the bed. Ask for help when folding laundry, washing dishes, sweeping or doing other work typically done by an adult.

At meal times, you can ask you child to set the table, to pour water or juice, or to wash dishes afterwards. Letting your child share in these activities will bestow a sense of inner satisfaction and self worth.

If a child can not complete an activity alone, give him or her a part of the task they can do. For example, if they can’t clean dishes well, they can still dry the dishes with a cloth.

Break tasks down into parts and let the child do those parts that they can handle, even if with difficulty.
