Sunshine Home has many special activities throughout the year and Parent Profession Day is one of our favorites.
As we carry on the students’ vocational education, we enjoy inviting the parents to introduce and present about their jobs to the children.
In today’s modern society, more and more people have chosen to pursue an occupation, which gives families new opportunities to educate children about different careers.
In daily life at home, children are usually with their parents. Due to this, parents’ attitudes, experiences, and emotions about work are naturally passed on to their children.
As long as we pay attention and act carefully, we have the opportunity to exert an invisible and formative influence on our children and the way that we introduce them to the world of professions.
In the Whales class, Robin's mother is a game copywriter. She introduced a brief history of the development of games and gaming consoles to the children. She also talked about how to plan the form of a game, along with how to extract lessons from games that can be used in learning and in life.
In the Dolphins class, Betty’s mother is an engineer who works in a hospital. She introduced the hospital's computer system to the children.
Scarlett's father introduced students to the concept of a "brand". He taught children how to give a brand a positive connotation and a variety of ways to promote a brand.
In the Bears Class, Kai's mother is engaged in foreign trade. She introduced the definition of foreign trade, the components of a schoolbag, as well as the whole process –of making a schoolbag—including the process of their exportation.
In the Penguin class, Claire’s mother, a flight attendant, introduced the children to the flight attendants' safety service work, and gave everyone a safety demonstration and safety instructions.
Aiden's father is a pilot. He showed students what different planes look like, discussed the ‘do's’ and ‘don'ts’ of flying and introduced them to the process of becoming a pilot.
In the Elephants class, the mother of Zoe, who is a designer, introduced students to how models and background props (such as chairs, dolls, magnifying glasses, bags, hats, bouquets, newspapers, etc.) should be arranged in photography, and invited children to practice being little models.
In the Giraffes class, Allen’s mother is a dancer. She has been a professional dancer and has taught classical dance. Today, she introduced the profession of dance to the children, showed them different dance costumes and dance shoes, and demonstrated different dance movements.
Thanks to the great support from our parents, the Parent Profession Day at Seaside was a great success. We should work on helping our children to understand more about different professions, which can help them develop healthy values and career choices.
It is essential for us to help children develop positive values, to respect their dreams, and to enrich their professional experiences. All the efforts we make will help children to make their own future choices in choosing a college major or career path.
