Lakeside Parents' Professions Day

In order to enrich children's professional knowledge and to guide them to hold work to high esteem, Sunshine Home Kindergarten held Parents’ Professions Day this Friday.

Parents shared their professions positively, which affected their children's value and impression of these professions.

Students learned that there were many different kinds of professions.

It’s necessary to share positive professional values with children and guide the children to establish these values in their childhood, to recognize the dignity and beauty of labor, and to realize that every profession is valuable.

At the same time, we should also cultivate the children's professional visions and dreams.

If parents have a good attitude about their work – work that makes them feel responsible, happy and fulfilled – and express contentment about this work, then children will naturally have good impression on this work as well.

Children will expect to have the same positive professional experience as their parents – a positive impression of work that will be passed on from generation to generation. Therefore, it is important to care for the children’s professional dreams and to foster these dreams as the children grow up.

We were so honored to invite a handful of parents to share their professions with our students.

In the Lions class, Marx’s mother is a dance teacher. She held a dancing class for our children. She explained that it took a lot of effort for dance students to become successful. She also encouraged the children to work hard on whatever they are working on.

In the Giraffes class, Jones’s mother loves baking. She shared with the children the “birth of a cake” and taught them how to make a cake.

In the Bears class, Alice's father works on artificial intelligence research. He brought a small robot that could write. How excited the children were when they saw the robot!

In the Bunnies class, Chloe’s mother is a software designer. She showed her works and introduced the students to her daily work as a designer.

In the Lions class, Andy’s father is an art teacher. He usually teaches painting for adults. He showed his paintings and taught children how to draw as well.

In the Seals class, Renee’s father shared the topic, ‘Amazing photography.’ He gave a lecture explaining what photographers do and where photos come from. He introduced the principles of imaging and optics to children in a funny way. He also shared many wonderful photographs with the children.

In the Seals class, Rex’s mother is a comfort dessert maker. She had the cupcakes well prepared and taught the children how to whip cream, which was then used to decorate the cupcakes. She also kindly prepared the cakes in the shape of a bat, which relates to the students’ current theme.
