Art and Children’s Day Themed Learning Package

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our academic theme Art and Children’s Day! This theme is all about exploring different forms of creative self-expression!

Toy and Learning Material Suggestions
The learning package we’ve designed for our Sophomores is the perfect means for teaching them all about art and the joys of creative self-expression! This learning package includes a very engaging book and a creative art material.

The book for our bubbly Sophomores is The Miraculous Little Stone. The book is filled with small holes (“stones”) which give clues to what will be on the next page! Children will love exploring their tactile senses and expanding their imaginations as the stones transform from a mouse to a blue whale and beyond! Your child will also love reciting the short rhymes included on each page describing the stone’s newest form.

Sophomores will also love Dot Painting, which is a learning material designed to help students explore their creativity with painting. It comes with a booklet full of many pictures and bottles containing different colors of paint. The bottles are the perfect size for our Sophomores’ little hands. Children will dab little drops of color from the bottles to decorate images in the booklet. This material helps build concentration and patience in young children. It also enhances eye-hand co-ordination and fine motor skills. Your child will love mixing and layering different colors to create his or her very own masterpiece!

Additional Learning Tips
Art is so essential for children to learn self-expression. Here are a few suggestions to help you guide your child in the Art and Children’s Day theme:

  • Sophomores are very young and most of them are shy or hesitant to participate in the events held at school. Guidance and encouragement from parents can be a big help to motivate children to explore their talent on Children’s Day.

  • Spend time to read wordless picture books. Pictures alone can communicate ideas and express emotions without words. Narrating stories without words can help to enhance imagination and creative skills in young children.

  • Take your child to visit an art museum or to enjoy a live musical concert. During the visit, encourage critical thinking by discussing what he observes during the visit.

  • Motivate your young one to attend hands-on workshops, storytelling programs or musical lessons to help develop an appreciation for different art forms at a young age.
