We cannot have a peaceful world if we do not teach it to our children. Children’s youth makes them impressionable and moldable. Fortunately they can gain a foundation of harmony through education of the Peace Curriculum, as it teaches peaceful action and conflict resolution.

The Peace Curriculum is implemented in the following ways:

Teachers set examples through their communication, peacemaking, and peacekeeping skills.

There should be no form of competitiveness in the school. Learners should be encouraged to work together on a problem and cooperate.

Learners should be taught about and exposed to different cultures. This will open their eyes and minds to the fact that even though people have different qualities, they are all still human beings. It will help them accept and respect other cultures.

Each child’s unique abilities must be recognized and put to use to allow the class to work as a unit and not as individuals.

The children must be taught to take accountability for what is around them. They must learn to keep their class tidy, water the plants, feed the animals, and more. This will give the children a sense of responsibility that will follow them into adulthood.

They must learn to share their problems, as well as to sit down and work out possible solutions.

Lastly, the children must learn to love unselfishly without demanding things of others. They also should be taught to accept responsibility for their futures. 

Through all these, we lay the foundation towards a more peaceful world.
