Exploring and Developing Children’s Potential

We live in a world filled with talented people.
We all begin to find talents at a young age. I think there’s a problem, though: these talents often stunted by failing to fully explore and develop them in childhood. Because of our talents are not given the time and attention they need, our world is full of talent, but lacking in true genius. Sunshine Home importantly gives each child a chance to explore and develop his or her potential.

We here at Sunshine Home pay close attention to every child, making efforts to observe their strong points and guide them accordingly. To illustrate, let me tell you about Luca.

Luca has a unique gift. Disinterested in crafts like painting, he happens to love to remember the names of bus stations. Usually he first draws a line on a blank paper, then asks me to help him write the list of bus stops he can remember. Amazingly, he can recite every stop of the Express 3 bus, and even two-thirds of the stops for the 30’s long route.

It was through this activity, that I found Luca was able to read simplified Chinese characters, and even some of the traditional characters. After being taught how to read “長” (meaning “long”), he then said “萬里長城” (the Great Wall) all by himself! I was so surprised!

With Luca’s great memory and interest in learning place names, it was natural that he would love geography. During work time he likes to work with maps and national flags, placing each flag in its correct spot. He was so interested to learn many of the capital cities, and even knew things about many small countries. This is so wonderful!

I’m so happy to be able to help children explore and develop their special gifts here at Sunshine Home. Together we can make the world a more brilliant place.
