The Montessori teacher aims to

The Montessori teacher aims to cultivate a child’s will rather than break it. It is a long process for a child to construct his or her will, and it may be easily broken if another imposes their own.

The will is formed when the child makes choices and concentrates. The child needs a sense of external order to develop inner order.

A well-organized classroom provides the framework in which a child learns self-discipline.
