A Montessori class often begins and ends with circle time, where the teacher might introduce a new concept or material to the class. The class quickly breaks up as a group and the students are allowed to choose in which of five areas he or she wishes to learn that day. The five areas are:
.Language, with a focus vocabulary and written words;
.Math, with a focus on mathematics and geometry;
.Sensorial, with a focus on the five physical senses;
.Geography and Culture, with a focus on the world around us; and
.Practical Life, with a focus on the development of fine motor skills.
