The Geography and Cultural

The Geography and Cultural area of a Montessori classroom provides an ordered foundation upon which children will sharpen their perception of the world and discover the similarities, rather than the differences, that exist with all humankind.

Throughout the year, children study different continents, countries and cultures. Using real objects, books and pictures, the children are exposed to a world of new people, animals, traditions, and food.

The geography of the earth is explored with lessons in landforms and different bodies of water such as oceans, rivers and lakes. They will learn about the solar system and the different planets and stars.

The Cultural curriculum also includes the study of Art and Music, where the child learns about different artists and art forms, as well as composers and genres of music.

Through exercising their imaginations in a real way, the children learn about the vast solar system, faraway cultures, huge oceans and the exciting world through which one day they will travel.
